On-the-Job Training on GeoInformatics

A special on-the-job training on GeoInformatics was held for staff members of Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) of Nepal by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) at the ICIMOD Headquarters from 13 – 24 July 2009. This training was a part of the Hindu Kush-Karakoram (HKKH) Partnership Project. The staff members of DNPWC who took this training were mostly based at the Sagarmatha National Park in Nepal.
During this 10 days training, the participants were introduced to basic concepts of geographical information system (GIS) and ArcGIS desktop. The course included other themes like coordinates and map projection, spatial analysis, digital elevation model (DEM), map layout, geographical positioning system (GPS), application case, decision support toolbox (DST) and so forth.
The training was conducted jointly by Mr. Birendra Bajracharya, Mr. Govinda Joshi, Mr. Salman Asif Siddiqui, Mr. Sudip Pradhan and Mr. Suyesh Pradhan.
