Capacity Building
Capacity building within the HKKH Partnership Project has a broad scope, involving strengthening human, scientific, technological and institutional resources, and including formal and informal training, improving access to information, network building and organizational development. The activities target key stakeholder engaged in ecosystem and protected area management at local, national and regional level. Expected outcome of the capacity building activities is enhanced capacity of the target groups to support sustainable ecosystem management, involving increased awareness of, access and capacity to apply decision support tools; increased access to information; enhanced partnerships and collaboration between different levels, sectors and institutions; and new working procedures in institutions. An overall framework for capacity building within the project has been developed. The framework outlines objectives of capacity building within the project, key principles for the implementation of capacity building activities, themes of capacity building initiatives, types of capacity building envisaged, specific strategies for capacity building at different levels, and roles of the partners. The partners are in the process of developing frameworks for capacity building activities within their specific areas of expertise.
